Why Charter a Yacht in Croatia?
Why not? With 140 islands, islets and reefs making up the northern part of the cruising grounds available to the yachtcharterer and
the larger islands between Split and Dubrovnik enticing you with beautiful tree lined coasts, when you encounter villages steeped in
history, glorious beaches and bays, all within the background of coastal mountains dropping straight into the sea - is this not reason
enough?
It is no wonder that Croatia is the crossroads of East meeting West and Central Europe meeting the Mediterranean. The ubiquitous
myriads of historical towns show ancient Rome, Byzantine, Romanesque, and Renaissance influences. Such is the experience of the
charterer in these crystal clear and remarkably clean waters.
What's on Offer?
Along the coast and on some islands are a series of modern
marinas that offer pier space, electricity, fuel, water, laundry,
shower and shopping facilities. Other docking facilities include
town piers or bays for dropping anchor and there are numerous
beaches for solitude.
The most crowded period is July and August when sailing
enthusiasts from Europe flock to the coast but the months of
May, June, September and October should not be overlooked
for a quieter visit to this unspoiled coast during good weather.
The waters are deep, clean and welcoming. Winds are
moderate, for most of the summer and part of spring. There is
an occasional strong north wind called “Bura” but this usually
only blows for a day or so at a time.
Tourist facilities are in full operation, and depending what time
of year you visit, you may find yourself amongst the best of
European cultural events on offer at some of the points of call.
There are opportunities to visit the tiny, unspoiled villages with
a window on an older way of life. You will find communicating
easy as English is spoken to a great extent along the coast and
coastal islands. Croatians are generally a warm and genuine
people who embrace the visits of tourists to their shores.
